The REALTOR® Code

Moral Integrity. Competency. Dedication. The REALTOR® Code establishes a standard of conduct that exceeds basic legal requirements in many respects. This standard protects the rights and interests of consumers of real estate services. As a condition of membership, all REALTORS® agree to abide by the Code, and violations may lead to serious consequences.

Education

A REALTOR® is committed to ongoing education to increase competence and effectiveness in real estate trading. REALTORS® are effective negotiators, acting in your interests and upon your instructions.

Knowledge

A REALTOR® can get you the information needed to make an informed decision: comparable prices, neighbourhood trends, housing market conditions and more. A REALTOR® provides a variety of services including help in setting a listing price within current market guidelines. They develop a marketing plan, offer recommendations and advice to make your home more attractive and “saleable,” and act on your behalf during negotiations to protect your interests.
